Problem: The customer was complaining of encountering sticking and tool wear when manufacturing Valproate. I Holland visited the customer to investigate.

Solution: After investigation, and after we had applied TSAR Predict to analyse the formulation, we decided that ECxtra should be applied to the tooling due to its good anti-stick qualities and corrosion and wear resistant properties.

Success: : The customer was very pleased with the I Holland tooling with ECxtra applied. They are now able to produce high quality tablets and not experience issues when running the press at 70-75kTPH.

Problem: The customer was reporting issues with sticking when manufacturing Valproate.

Solution: To determine which coating would be most suitable to help alleviate issues of sticking we ran the formulation through our TSAR Predict model. TSAR Predict accurately forecasts the correct anti-stick PharmaCote® coating solution for your formulation. It calculates single particle adhesion to the punch tip face without time consuming and expensive field trials. The model showed that ECxtra was likely the best coating solution, owing to its good anti-stick qualities, and the hydrophobic nature of the coating against the formulation, which was hygroscopic in nature (meaning it attracted water).
