Case Study
Tablet: Paracetamol
Press Type: GEA Courtoy
Tool type: D type tooling
Problem: The customer had an issue whereby the product they compress had a lot of fines in the API’s. They found the API’s were passing by the clearance from the lower tip to die bore.
Solution: We wanted to try and tighten the tolerance on the lower punch tip to give reduced clearance between the punch tip and die bore. However, the tips were already at a very tight tolerance of 0.02mm range. Die bore tolerance instead was reduced from +0.00/+0.02 to +0.00/+0.008mm. This reduced the clearance by 0.012mm at least. The tip concentricity was also tightened up to 0.01.
Success: The customer commented that no issues have been experienced since and they are happy with the updated tooling and die specifications.
